ممثلة أمريكية، ولدت في ولاية فيرجينيا الأمريكية في عام 1964 لأب امريكي وام ألمانية، وكانت تغني في صغرها في كورال الأطفال حيث كانت والدتها تعمل كمغنية أوبرالية. درست التمثيل في جامعة كارولينا الشرقية وانتقلت للعيش في مدينة نيويورك من أجل السعي وراء العمل على خشبة المسرح، وهو ما أدي بها إلى التمثيل في السينما والتليفزيون، وفي غضون سنوات، صارت واحدة من أكثر النجمات المحبوبات في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بفضل أفلامها، ومنها: (Speed، Miss Congeniality، Crash، The Blind Side، Gravity).
